June 2026 Orange County Board of Supervisors RE: Agenda Item S10A – Support for a YES Vote Dear Chair and Members of the Board of Supervisors, I respectfully urge you to vote YES on Agenda Item S10A. This item represents an important opportunity for Orange County to take a thoughtful and responsible approach toward modernizing vegetation management practices and evaluating alternatives to herbicide use. A YES vote does not predetermine an outcome; rather, it allows County staff the time and resources necessary to conduct the due diligence, research, and analysis needed to identify the most effective and environmentally responsible path forward. Many counties throughout California, including Los Angeles County and San Diego County, have already begun modernizing their land management practices and exploring approaches that better align with the requirements and intent of the California Endangered Species Act (CESA) and the Federal Endangered Species Act (ESA). Orange County deserves the same opportunity to evaluate current practices, review emerging science, and consider alternatives that may better protect sensitive habitats, waterways, wildlife, and public health. A YES vote on S10A is a vote for knowledge, transparency, science and informed decision-making. It gives our County the ability to fully examine the best available options, assess costs and benefits, and develop strategies that reflect modern environmental stewardship while continuing to meet operational needs. Our residents deserve a County government that is willing to learn, adapt, and pursue continuous improvement. By supporting this item, you will empower staff to gather the information necessary to help Orange County do better and be better for future generations. Thank you for your consideration and your service to our community. Sincerely, __NAME__ __CITY__ Creek Team Supporter
